Tutor Alex Lowe gives an inspiring introduction to painting with acrylics - covering the basics of which materials to use, which colours and brushes are good for beginners and also some great explanations of basic techniques.
What makes this video great is that Alex approaches this introduction as an artist first and foremost, so for example, his recommended palette of colours for the beginner is designed to steer the novice away from making assumptions about which colours to use and instead to really look at the subject and develop an eye for what is really in front of you. No pure black and white paint here - a sentiment echoed by virtually all accomplished artists and tutors!

This video from Clive is a back-to-basics guide which covers the practical and technical side of acrylic painting, including how to prime your canvas with gesso, how to create a 'wet pallet' and more. So it's maybe not as inspiring as Alex Lowe's introduction to acrylic paints, but it does contain some absolutely crucial advice from a professional which, if we're being honest, plenty of seasoned painters could most likely benefit from!
Clive's guide is an essential watch for anyone new to acrylic painting and is a real must-watch!

In contrast to Clive's video, this is definitely a more inspirational video which shows the very particular creative process of the artist, with no real technical information to help the beginner. However, the true beauty of this video lies in its ability to fire the imagination of the viewer and remind us all of the most important rule of art - THERE ARE NO RULES!
We absolutely love the finished piece shown in this video and the fact that the artist plays by his own rules to create stunning illustrations which just happen to use the medium of acrylic paints!
