Inktober 2022 Has Started!

But what is Inktober and how does Inktober work?

Inktober was the bright idea of artist Jake Parker, who started the first Inktober back in 2009, as a way to improve his artistic skills. Since then, it has grown into a worldwide phenomenon, with thousands upon thousands of artists taking part each year.

How Inktober Works

It's pretty simple - if you want to take part in Inktober, head over to the official Inktober website where you can find a list of prompt words - one for each day of the Month of October!

The idea is to use the prompt word to help you create a drawing based around the word. The first prompt word is Gargoyle.

However - as the aim of Inktober is to improve your ink drawing skills, the artwork must be made using ink!

When complete, share your image on social media using the hashtags inktober and inktober2022. It's as simple as that!

The rules state that the frequency can be as follows, but the main thing is to be consistent, so that you get into the habit of drawing regularly!

Marathon

Post one drawing every day.

Half-Marathon

Post one drawing every other day.

5K

Post one drawing per week.

To get you started, here's a sample of the Inktober Instagram feed, as of 1st October 2022:

To see more of what other people have been drawing, search for the Inktober hashtags on social media and also check out the official Inktober Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts!

Happy inking!
